The role and shape of political parties is changing rapidly. For many political parties, including liberal ones, membership numbers are decreasing. The traditional left-right divide is much more diffuse and new players on the political field are a regular occurrence. In a changing landscape, it is wise for liberal parties to look at how to maintain relevance and continue to play an important role in society.
More and more parties are indeed taking this question on all over Europe. Some are experimenting with alternative membership structures, others are creative in retaining their membership, and some reach out to civil society or involve citizens directly. This workshop explores ways to strengthen your organisation’s relevance in the 21st Century by sharing best practices and ideas.
