In a time of upheaval and reconfiguration of global governance and international relations, we aim to find out how to carry out EU’s foreign policy objectives based on our common values and the promotion of individual and collective freedom and human rights, both from a structural point of view and as a strategic view of diplomacy. We aim to discuss how to reform the EEAS so as to make it an effective common foreign policy corp, with the goal of making the EU a truly global power that brings positive change to the world.
The seminar will explore how the EEAS works, its main priorities and the main structural and strategic challenges it faces. The participants will be asked to write forward-looking essays on the topic ahead of the seminar, which will be discussed with experts on the area and later be compiled in a publication.
The essays will be clustered according to a pre-specified set of topics related to foreign policy, so as to make it more focused and coherent, and the participants will be able to choose and prepare their paper according to their interests.
Register here by 25 February 2021 at 14hCET (Brussels time).
Topics selection for contributions (strongly encouraged):
- Structural reform of the EEAS
- Human Rights, Global and Multilateral Issues (EU values in foreign affairs, democracy, rule of law and freedom, migration)
